The system enables Dianella consumers to generate their own electricity, store it in solar batteries, and then sell it to energy providers during times when demand on the main grid is high.

What Is a VPP?

A VPP, or a virtual power plant, makes it possible for consumers to reduce their bills by avoiding peak demand tariffs, as well as generating extra revenue by selling their electricity.


It is a cloud-based network of residential solar power systems that are operated by a centralised smart control mechanism. Discovery Energy VPP Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for the Discovery Energy VPP:

  • Inverter size should not be more than 10 kW
  • Battery size not lower than 2.5 kWh
  • No life support at the property (a compliance requirement)
  • Direct debit to be set up on the account
  • Credits can be encashed only 4 times a year provided each time the amount is more than $100
  • System to be connected to stable home wifi
  • Monthly billing & e-billing only
  • Inverter and battery to be from the approved eligible list of products
